The Science Bit & FAQs

what makes FL -41 Lens better?
Backed by extensive research, FL-41 lenses have been proven to provide relief to those with light sensitivity.
Commonly referred to as 'Migraine Glasses' and different to 'anti blue light' lenses, FL-41 lenses filter out more light in the blue-green spectrum, particularly wavelengths around 480-520 nm. This range of light is often associated with visual discomfort and can trigger migraines and photophobia.

Why not just use sunglasses?
Wearing sunglasses indoors as a protective measure for photophobia and light sensitivity can make the problem worse in the long run. Studies show that patients will 'dark adapt' thier eyes and further aggrivate sensitivity to light. One study stated 'The use of sunglasses indoors should be discouraged, patients should be encouraged to transition to the use of FL-41 or other tints for indoor light sensitivity'

Who can benefit from Anti Blue light lenses?
If you suffer tension headaches, tired or sore eyes following screen use then you may benefit from Anti Blue Light lenses. Additionally, blue light glasses can help improve sleep quality by minimizing the disruption of melatonin production caused by blue light exposure in the evening. There are also indications that wearing these glasses could potentially lower the risk of long-term eye conditions like macular degeneration, which is linked to prolonged blue light exposure.

What are the benefits of Photochromic lenses?
Our Photochromic Lenses offer anti blue light protection, and adapt in colour when light conditions change. Glare and rapid changes in brightness can be a trigger for photophobia, migraine and eye strain.
Cost effective, and convenient, Photochromic lenses eliminate the need for multiple pairs of glasses.
